iSkysoft Video Editor getting started

iSkysoft Video Editor is a powerful video editing software for family users to trim and merge movie or video projects regardless the size and format in a few simple steps. You can add background music, scene transitions, PIP and stylish movie effects to your video. What is more, the variable audio & speed feature will make your home video more interesting.

You can directly upload your video to YouTube and Facebook for sharing with family and friends, save videos for playback on portable devices like iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc. or burn DVD for better video preservation.

There are two modes Easy Mode and Full Feature Mode for your choice depending on your different needs.

Easy Mode
It is a good choice if you are new to an edit program; or not sure how to begin; or don’t have much time to manage your media files.

A colorful movie will be made via the following simple steps.

Step 1: Select Template
Multiple templates are listed as default. Click Download More button to download more templates, and then select the template you desire and click Next button to start your work.



Step 2: Add Media File
Click Import button to add your media files. To add a folder, click the Inverted triangle icon and select Add folder… .



To sort your media file, drag it to the place you desire directly. To make the media file to the right direction, right click it and select Rotate Left or Rotate Right. To delete the media file, select it and click the Delete button, hold on Ctrl key to select multiple files.

While all is done, click Next button to Step 3.

Step 3: Preview



Click the Edit button to add opening and closing title. There is a pre-set music for each template. Click the Delete button to remove it if you don’t like and click Add music button to add your own one. Click the Preview button to preview your work. If not satisfied, click Previous button to further work on it.

Step 4: Save and Share
Two options are available: Export directly and Advanced Editing Mode.

Export directly: Output your movie directly to computer, DVD or upload it to video sharing sites like YouTube, Facebook. In addition, you can also output it onto video formats suitable for different devices.

Advanced Editing Mode: Edit more in Full Feature Mode.


Full Feature Mode



Follow these steps to start editing and creating your own video clips.

Step 1: Load Media Files
Click Import to load all supported files including video, audio files and pictures or drag the media files directly to the program. You can also click Record to start recording through webcam and microphone and load the captured file to the Media Collection.

Note:
• After you load the files, you need to drag the files to the Timeline to start the edition of the files.
• If the source file in the project is deleted, renamed or moved from the original directory, it will be an unknown file and can't be loaded to program for continued use.
• If you click Files > Import media, you can only import the video, audio or picture files, but not the project files. Double click the saved project file to open it directly and click Video Editor on the top left corner of the program and select Open/Open Recent to open it.

Tips
: To add a folder, click the Inverted triangle icon besides Import and select Add folder… .

Step 2: Edit the files
Before editing the files, the files need to be dragged to the Timeline at first. To do so, drag the files to the Timeline or right-click the files and select Add Clip to load the files.
There are three main tracks in the Timeline: Video track, PIP 1 track and Music track. The Text Track, Effect Track and Record Track and Sound Track are hidden by default and can be shown when corresponding files are added. The corresponding files can’t be dragged to the other different tracks.

Video Edit
You can edit, trim, split, rotate and add caption, transitions, PIP and effect to it. Meanwhile, you can set the playback speed of video and audio to make your story more enjoyable.


General
Double-click the video file or right-click a clip and select Edit to open the Video Edit window. You can set the volume of the video and the effect of the audio fade in and fade out. You could also rotate the video clockwise, anti-clockwise, flip the video horizontally or vertically. You can also adjust the contrast, saturation or brightness of the video.

Besides, you can crop the video and delete the video clip you don’t like; you can crop the video manually. In the meantime, you could set the playback speed of video and audio such as Fast Forward or slow motion. You could also set the selected video clip to mute, just right-click a clip and choose Mute option.

Tips
: You can auto enhance your video on Video Edit window by check Auto Denoise and enhance option.

Trim
Drag the video or audio clip from the edge to trim the clip. If the clip is trimmed, you can drag it back to restore.
Proceed as follows: Firstly you could select the video clip and drag your mouse to apply the cutting operation. The operation can be reduced and undo/redo operation is for last operation.

Split
Select the video file in the timeline and locate the segmentation point by Timeline Indicator. Click the Split button to split the clip from the Timeline Indicator.
After splitting, you can drag the clip from the cut edge to restore the original video or audio.

Note: The split operation will be unavailable if you don’t choose any video clip or the Timeline Indicator is not located on the video.

Flash and Hold
This special effect adds a brief flash transition for a frame. The frame that is added with Flash and Hold feature will become a still picture with transitions at the beginning and the end.
To add Flash and Hold effect, please select the frame in the timeline, and then click the Flash and Hold button .

Add Text
Click the Text button, all the text templates are shown in the resources section. Drag the text template to the timeline and you will see the text track.

You can also change the font, size and color of the text by double clicking Text. Finally, you can click Play to preview the subtitle. You could drag the test segment to change its position. You could also drag the two sides of text clip to change the duration.

Effect
Click the Effect button, all the effect templates are shown in the resources section. Select one effect and right click it to choose Apply. Or you can drag one effect into the timeline to apply it. You could drag the effect segment to change its position. You could also drag the two sides of text clip to change the duration

Transition
Click Transition button and drag the transition effects to the timeline from the collections. You could drag the transition segment to change its position. You could also double-click the effect to set the duration time. Enter the time you like at the Duration area.

PIP
Click PIP button and drag one PIP resource to the timeline from the collections. You can also drag one file or picture file into PIP track as PIP resource. The size and position of the PIPs can be customized.

Drag the file in the PIP track to change its position or move the two sides of the file to crop the file. Double-click the PIP clip to open the editing screen; you could set the size, angle, frame, shadow, chroma key, transparency, fuzzyness, and motion path.

Tips: Click Download button on top menu to download more effect, transition and PIP resources.

Intro/Credit
Click the Intro/Credit button, all the Intro/Credit resource are shown in the resources section. You could drag one intro/credit into timeline to apply it. The intro/credit can be used for the transitions between two video files and can be used for the beginning and end of the movie.

Picture editing
Double-click the picture to open the editing screen; you could set the time of duration, contrast ratio, brightness, saturation. You could crop the picture and rotate or flip it. Click the motion to preview the effect, double-click the motion can help you apply the motion to the current picture.

You could also add the caption and effect in the resource section into picture just drag the caption or effect to apply it.


Music editing:

Usually, the audio files are added for background music for the video you made. When you double click the music file or right click and choose Edit button to open the editing screen, you can set the volume of the music, apply sound variation effect and set the fade in and fade out effect. You could also set the playback speed of the music. Besides, you could move the position of the music and change the length of the music and trim it.



Power Tool
4 features are provided in the Power Tool to increase the interesting using the product, which includes: Tilt-Shift, Mosaic, Head Portrait and Jump Cut at Beats. And you can click the Power Tool button  to use the effects.

Tilt-Shift
Tilt-Shift feature can be used to direct the viewer's attention to a small part of the image while de-emphasizing other parts.
By moving the two parallel lines, and the circle, you can select the part which will be remained and the other part will be blur.


Mosaic
To use the Mosaic feature, check the option Apply Mosaic to the clip, and click the Add button; drag the boarder to adjust the size and position of the Mosaic. And you can also drag the slider of Percent to set the density of the Mosaic effect.


Head Portrait
Using this feature, the face of the people in the picture will be replaced by the head portrait selected.

Jump Cut at Beats
It can make the video bouncing which can be achieved by setting the Jump Time Length and Play Duration.

For example, if we set Jump Time Length as 5 sec. and Play Duration as 0.8 sec, then 0.8 sec of the video will play and 5 sec. of the video will jump and cut when playing.

Step 3:Export
After editing the file, go to the Export tab , you can select your preferred format or device. Besides, you can share the home made videos on YouTube or burn them to DVD.


Tips: While output to video formats including h.264 encoder like .mp4, .mov, .mkv, etc, you can enable the GPU accelerate feature by clicking the Video Editor icon on the top left corner of the program and check Enable GPU Accelerate option under the pop up Settings window. GPU encoding allows the product to use new NVIDIA® CUDA™, AMD® and Intel® Core™ technologies to output to video formats including h.264 encoder 2/3 times faster.
