iSkysoft Data Recovery

Last Revised: 2013-11-26 18:13:02

iSkysoft Data Recovery is a powerful data recovery tool, which can help you recover documents, photos, audios, videos, emails and archive files lost from all kinds of storage devices, such as hard drives, memory cards, and USB Flash drives.

After installing the software on your computer, launch Data Recovery and follow the steps below to recover your lost data.

Note: Do not install our software on the same disk where you lost the data. It may make the data overwritten or corrupted easily.

Recover Data in Wizard Mode

If you are the first time to use the software, you will be guided to the Wizard Mode automatically. With this mode, you just need to answer two simple questions and we will do the rest to recover files. If you don't want to use this wizard, please click Stardard Mode to recover the data.

Step 1: Choose the file types you want to recover.

Step 2: Select the location where you lost the file.

Step 3: Click on Next continue. You can choose Enable Deep Scan or Enable Raw File Recovery to begin.

Step 4: Preview and recover your lost files

If you choose All files in the previous step, the scanning result would be displayed in file types, such as archive, audio, database, document, email, graphic, video, etc. You can recover them selectively after previewing. PDF, PPT, RAR, ZIP, Excel, and photos like PNG, JPG, JPEG, TIF, etc. can be previewed before recovery.

Additionally, you can check the previous path of those files by switching File Type to Path.

Note:
1. If the Status says good, the file can be recovered. If the Status says bad or poor, that is to say, the file couldn't be recovered.
2. Do not save files to the disk where your lost files located. If you have not recovered the files you are looking for, they may be overwritten by your new file saving.

Scan filtering

If you remember the file name, you can search the file by its name and path in the found files. It supports fuzzy search.

Click Filter button, you could filter the scanned results by file size, create or modify date.

Note: The found files are temporary in memory. If you click the Back button, they will be lost. You could click the Save Scan button to save the scanned result as a file, and you could import the file to recover next time.

Step 5: Recover the files

Select the check boxes before the files that you want to recover, and click the Recover button. In the pop-up Save As dialog box, select a folder and click the Recover button, and the found files will be saved there.

Note: You cannot save the found files into the same partition where the lost files were.

Recover Data in Standard Mode

Step 1: Choose a right recovery module according to the descriptions in the window. There are three recovery modes: Lost File Recovery, Partition Recovery and Raw File Recovery. Resume Recovery is for you to import saved scan results to resume a previous recovery session.

Step 2: Recover data with different recovery modes

a. Recover data with Lost File Recovery

Lost File Recovery can recover deleted files such as deleted by Shift + Delete or emptied from the Recycle Bin, no matter from your computer or other removable media. Select the disk or a specific folder where your lost files located, and click the Start button to scan and recover them.

b. Recover data with Partition Recovery

Partition Recovery supports the recovery of lost, deleted, resized or damaged partition. Select the disk where you lost your partition, and click the Next button. After scanning the lost partitions, choose one partition you want to recover files from, and click the Start button to scan and recover them.

c. Recover data with Raw File Recovery

You are suggested to use Raw File Recovery only when previous scans cannot find your lost files. Raw File Recovery will take more time and not display the file names and original path. Select a partition to recover files from, and click the Start button to scan and recover them. There are scan options, quick scan for Deleted Files or long-time scan for All Files. You can check one of them before performing the scan.

Tip: Resume Recovery is only used for saved scan results. If you saved the scan results before, import the saved scan result to resume a previous recovery session for time saving. And then it begins to continue scanning and recovering your lost files.
